Attempt at Cherry Creek Falls with Riley

It was a sad morning waking up with out my love and companion Roger Rabbit, may he rest in peace.
Set off for a relaxing stroll through the woods with Riley to Cherry Creek Falls.

Unfortunately once we had arrived at the trail head I managed to lock my keys in my car. grrr We called AAA who estimated a two hour wait for help to come. So we started out on our hike carefully watching the time and that we still had cell service. We  came close to reaching the falls, I could hear them in the distance and had to turn around. Within ten minutes from reaching the care AAA called to  say they had arrived and informed me that he had already unlocked my car, and left the keys under the front tire. So much for that, I guess we could have continued on!

We extended our exploration out to view Snoqualmie falls and continued to enjoy the beautiful sun shining weather. I was bummed when we hike to the lower snoqualmie view point because the board walk is so caged in there is little to no opportunity to get down to the rocks and up close to the falls,  and highly warned not to..This is a recent change in the security and I was really itching to get closer and take pictures like I have seen fellow IG friends, but not today.

Heather Lake Solo

Wow another beautiful paw "winter" day. With many families out for mid winter break I have never seen the Mt Pilchuck access road so incredibly packed. Cars lined both sides of the road all the way up to the trail head for Heather lake. I first stopped to use the out house before hitting the trail..without paying much attention I came out and start back on a trail into the woods. Quickly I lost the trail and was confused which way to continue. There was one guy out with his dog but I was to embraced to ask. After about 10 minutes of doubting myself I wandered back into the car where it became incredibly obvious that the actual trail head is across the road from the out house. haha I felt like a total dumby but was relieved to get going.

The trail was just as packed as the parking lot. Lots of families with small kids, and dogs running off leash. Most people were courteous, but others not so much. I have also been witnessing a recent trend of ppl who hike up with their dogs, the dog poos, they bag it...BUT then they leave the bag!! HELLO people that is actually not how it works. Some one did suggest that maybe they intend to pick it up on their way down, and I do hope that is the case. Please be responsible and help keep the trails in good shape.

A quick 4.6 miles with a little over 1000ft elevation gain I was up and to the lake in under an hour. I continued on the trail making a lap around the lake and taking in the views. However, it is quite unsettling to not see any trace of snow on the peaks at this time of year.

I have recently become memorized by our local old growth, and in particular the nurse logs that have new growth rising from them. If only trees could talk..

Vancouver BC Fish Hatchery

Jenn and friends took me out to the North Van fish hatchery for a morning of walking trails. It was a beautiful view. A rainbow, the damn and great company.

A free attraction with many educational displays about the different fish and the whole process of the hatchery.

Capliano @ Vancouver BC

Took off for a 5 day weekend to visit my best friend up in Vancouver BC for her birthday! Arrived early afternoon on Friday and ventured solo to the Capilano Suspension bridge park. It did not disappoint!

With a promise of rain and stormy weather Jenn discouraged me but upon my arrival the rain had let up and I jumped at the window of opportunity. Caught the free shuttle out to the rainforest and spent a couple hours exploring the park.

I enjoyed all of the historic totem poles and reading the history of the bridge, I can't imagine crossing it  back then! Wow! Along with the suspension bridge, also featured is the cliff walk, and a treetop adventure!

These pictures do not due it justice as the bridge looms 230ft above the raging river and suspends 460ft long. You feel it swaying and bobbing as you cross.
