Chuckanut mountain/Lake Whatcom Falls

Will and I headed North for the weekend to explore. First stop was Chuckanut Mountain for a hike up to Cedar lake. It was an intense steep hike up with the promise of a rewarding view. To the left Mt. Rainier and to the right would be the San Juan Islands... Sadly it was a foggy day and much to my disappointment there was no view. LOL

After our hike we headed to my Aunts property on Lake Whatcom to camp out for the evening. The water was much warmer than the windy cloudy weather. Luckily for us we were just outside the burn ban territory so we started up a fire roasted some hot dogs and s'mores and settled in for the evening. Hadn't really thought to check the regulations for a burn ban lol so we were lucky to be able to get warm and cook up some food.  6 am road crew workers and dump trucks started making a racket haha grr rise n' shine!

The next morning we headed out to the Whatcom Falls park. A simple woodland trail along side the river there are many cool places to discover. A series of 12 Waterfalls with cliff jumping and a natural whirl pool. We had a blast, met some cool ppl and took the plunge off the cliff side!

November Ice Caves

Winter has arrived! Getting ready for snowshoe season Will and I did a quick trip out to the ice caves. We are lucky we went when we did because just this weeks the hills have begun filling up with snow.  The mountains were an incredible site so breath taking. Its a quick and easy scenic trail. We look forward to going a couple more times throughout the winter as the snows levels increase and the terrain changes.
